Typography is very important in the profession of graphic design. I learned that there are rules a graphic designer should follow in typography. For example, one rule states that a letter type must be unique, bold and never boring. This type of letter design is used to catch a person's attention, especially when competing with others for a project. Furthermore, I became aware that there is a science behind typography. Before studying typography and using Adobe Fonts, I used to think that graphic designers would pick any font that look appealing and place it in the project where it would look nice.
Moreover, the font I like and remember the most is the 90's Mexican-American gangster graffiti; I do not know if there is name for the font. Back in the 90's, the letters where bold, big, and had style, in my opinion. I can recall I would walk into different barrios in low-income communities, and the first thing I would see would the gang's name written on a huge wall; I would be amazed on how the person/persons did that. Sadly, this art form is looked down on and is an art form that is disappearing. Nowadays. I drive around the barrios that I would walk as a child and teen, and I would see walls with gang names written with no style. It appears as these gangsters do not care how their gang's name is written on the wall. Back in the days, I could tell Mexican-American gangster cared how they repressed their gang.
